Understanding Your Prescription
Your glasses prescription is made up of three numbers. The first number indicates the amount of nearsightedness (myopia) or farsightedness (hyperopia). The second number indicates the amount of astigmatism. The third number indicates the angle of the astigmatic imperfections on the cornea.

Know before you go
The results of LASIK can vary widely between laser centers. However, without accurate outcome statistics to compare, there is no way to know the difference until after it is too late. Patients who achieve even mediocre success with LASIK are often delighted with their improved vision. But, they may not realize that their results could have been much, much better in the hands of a more highly skilled surgeon.
